Seeking Senior Policy Advisors central government

‍We are seeking Senior Policy Advisors, to lead important policy projects from problem definition through to implementation advice working closely with internal and external stakeholders

What you will be doing

Leading end-to-end policy projects, from problem definition and outcomes sought to present options and recommendations

‍Producing clear, concise and influential advice, including Cabinet papers, briefings and talking points.

Building strong relationships across the public sector and with external partners to ensure advice is well-informed and implementable

‍ About

An ideal candidate will be an experienced policy professional who is comfortable leading complex pieces of work.

Key requirements

At least five years’ experience in public policy, including at Senior Policy Advisor or strong Policy Advisor level in central or local government

Comfortable with ambiguity

Proven experience defining policy problems clearly, identifying options and trade-offs, and delivering high-quality advice under time

Strong analytical skills, with the ability to interpret data and evidence and translate it into practical advice.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain complex issues

A collaborative, inclusive way of working, with the ability to build credibility and trust with stakeholdersThe legal right to live and work in New Zealand
